In an interview with MTV, J.J. Abrams expressed his interest in returning to the Superman franchise. Since the last one flopped pretty badly, hopefully Abrams could reinvigorate the character and come up with a better storyline for the bigscreen.

Last time Abrams took a stab at scripting The Last Son Of Krypton, it received mixed reviews. However, it did have its share of backing in Hollywood because actor Brendon Fraser did a screen test for what would have then been a Brett Ratner directed film.

Abrams had this to say regarding his previous script:

“Writing that script was a long process, it was a very passionate character for me. As a kid growing up it meant a lot to me. It would be wonderful and fun to see that brought back. I don’t know what Warners is thinking or what their plan is. It would be a blast.”

So far, no one has mentioned it to Abrams, but letting them know he is interested might help in getting his project greenlit.

With the success of Star Trek and his TV show Lost, it is possible that Abrams could deliver a script that would have fans excited again. I know I’d go see it. I’m not aware what was in his previous script, but Abrams had this to say regarding its criticism:

“That version of the movie—the one that was reviewed and vilified—was actually not the latest draft we had at the time and we worked on it well after that. I do think there’s a version of that movie that could be really fun to see,” said Abrams. “You never really know. Everything happens for a reason.”
