Today on The Ellen Show, Ellen debuted a new clip from Twilight: New Moon featuring Jane (Dakota Fanning) being a nasty vampire in the Volturi clan. After the clip, Ellen goes on to interviewing (and scaring) Dakota Fanning and reveals that she has already seen the film.

Of course, Ellen and Dakota both sort of discuss how this isn’t the typical Dakota Fanning role being that she is a villain and all.

With the release of Twilight: New Moon in theaters just around the corner, several more promotional movie stills have been released on the web. The photos are quite varied and showcase several of the characters. The only one that seems to be really missing (other than Bella’s friends) is Dakota Fanning as Jane.

It is nice to get these character shots as promotional materials rather than another “exclusive” scene that reveals too much about the upcoming film.

Summit Entertainment showed off the title treatment for The Twilight Saga: Eclipsemovie and announced a cast tour for New Moon that will take place in 15 cities across the nation.

At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the teen vampire chronicle Twilight brought throngs of screaming (mostly female) fans to get their first glimpse of the film and its stars, including heartthrob Robert Pattinson, who drew the lion’s share of attention from the high-pitched masses. This year, with New Moon, the second chapter of the Twilight Saga set to rock the Con, eager fans began camping out the day before to get a chance to see the Twilight presentation in legendary Hall H. While the vampire faithful collected on the grounds, stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson held a press conference in a nearby hotel.

Please note, if you want to be kept completely in the dark about New Moon, and have not read the corresponding book, there are mild spoilers ahead.

“Last year, Comic-Con was the big eye-opener for us,” said Lautner. The Con helped stoke the frenzy of Twilight fandom, which started with the best-selling book series. “This is our opportunity to come out and thank our fans for everything they’ve done.”

Since last year’s Con, the movie has released and become a sensation. “It seems to keep building and building, the magnitude of this franchise… It’s an interesting thing to deal with,” said Pattinson. “I think that everything is crazy about this franchise and that’s why we love it so much,” said Lautner.

Life has changed significantly for its now high-profile stars. Tabloids have splashed cast relationships all over their covers and the media has descended on each scrap of new movie information. It has made for an interesting journey for the young stars. “Within myself I don’t think I’ve changed,” said Pattinson, speaking of the newfound attention. “[But] when I walk down the street, I Iook down a lot more often.”

In addition to adjusting to the constant attention, the three had to prepare for new challenges for their New Moon roles. “As soon as I finished Twilight, I started hitting the gym,” said Lautner, on his physical transformation. “I am trying to represent Team Jacob in the right way. I don’t want to disappoint [the fans].”

Kristen Stewart, meanwhile, dug into the emotional meat of the film. “This is a severely emotional movie. This movie is not about discovery, about falling in love… this is low. She’s a manic depressive, basically. It’s a more mature part “, said Stewart on Bella’s arc.

While New Moon features Robert Pattinson, he is not as prominent in the main storyline. Since his character has left Bella, his appearances in the film as they relate to her are handled via remembrances. “They’ve done these hallucinations, these semi-visible apparitions,” said Pattinson. “It’s how she remembers him, not how he actually is,” said Stewart.These sequences help tie Edward to the story even though he is not physically as present.

Each of the cast members were asked which book in the series was their favorite. Lautner picked Eclipse, due to the intensity and action. But Pattinson and Stewart both chose New Moon, the subject matter for this film. “I liked New Moon in terms of how much I can push myself in the series,” said Stewart. Pattinson agrees, citing the fact that “Edward is such a hyped character… and he is so humbled [in New Moon]… He is too much in love with something and deliberately starts breaking [the relationship], which I think is relatable.”
