While the domestic poster shows off both Iron Man and War Machine standing back-to-back, the international poster seems to focus more on Robert Downey Jr.’s star power as he is without his mask.

I think it is still a pretty cool poster, but I would much rather see War Machine. Have a look at the full poster below.

Iron Man 2 - International Poster

Director Jon Favreau has dropped a hint on Twitter that we may see a trailer for Iron Man 2 ahead of Sherlock Holmes on Christmas Day. Even if it does take that long, I think we will see it online sooner… even if it is a low quality version.

Paramount has released four new images from Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2, which feature Tony Stark, Whiplash, and Black Widow. The one of Scarlett Johansson looks very similar to one we’ve seen before, but it and the rest are cool nonetheless.

With the new poster we posted yesterday and these new pictures, a trailer shouldn’t be far off. Director Jon Favreau has hinted via Twitter that we will likely see it ahead of Sherlock Holmes on Christmas Day.

Have a look at the new photos below.

Iron Man 2 is set for release on May 7, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, and Don Cheadle.

First Showing is reporting that there may still be hope for Mandarin to appear in the upcoming sequel Iron Man 2.

Actor Faran Tahir, who played Raza, the leader of the 10 Rings in the first film, had this to say regarding the appearance of Mandarin.

Jon Favreau and [the producers] are not stupid. They’re also listening in on all of this and wanting to get the pulse of where the audience is. But at some point, they want to introduce Mandarin into the storyline and my character, like Mandarin, was the leader of the Ten Rings. We’re leaving it open because, partly, it makes good business sense for us to leave a little bit of uncertainty for people to speculate on.”

Leaving it open is usually a pretty good thing, and I like some uncertainty about a film because it makes things more of a surprise and more interesting when I actually see the film.

What’s even more appealing is that Tahir is then asked if Jon Favreau is even thinking about Iron Man 3 yet. He had this to say regarding the question:

“He has known for a long time where he wants to take it and I don’t want to speak for him, but my feeling is that the second movie didn’t want to just follow a singular storyline. They wanted to expand the characters to show that it’s not a linear saga like Lord of the Rings. There’s a linkage somewhere in there, but the big idea is to do at least one more Iron Man movie and then go into The Avengers.”

So there you have it. Favreau has a plan to make at leat one more film in the Iron Man franchise before the The Avengers film.

Stay tuned for more on this topic as it becomes available.

There’s not really that much to report here except that Jon Favreau retweeted a message regarding an Iron Man 2 trailer which has many believing we will be getting a great look at the film just ahead of Sherlock Holmes.

Here’s the retweeted message, as proof:

RT @Ann_Howard: @Jon_Favreau PLEASE tell us the trailer is coming soon – w/Sherlock Holmes, perhaps??

Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes releases to theaters on Christmas day and it is no surprise that they would opt to put the Iron Man 2 trailer just ahead of it, considering both films star Robert Downey Jr..

I would have hoped we would see this trailer sooner, and it is likely that we will in this age of the internet. If the a pretty version hasn’t leaked by then, I’m sure we will at least have a low quality one to gawk at.

As soon as the trailer is available online, you can expect to see it here!
