Shortly after Rachel McAdams denied any ties to the Black Cat role in Spider-Man 4 and Julia Stiles was rumored to be discussing the role, Nikki Finke has now uncovered that producers are interested in Anne Hathaway as well.

Sheesh, this Black Cat role is going beyond some sort of outlandish rumor craze. According to /Film, Finke has proven herself to be a rather reliable source in regards to Marvel Entertainment.

Still, I’m classifying this news as a strict rumor until we get some sort of official announcements. As always, we will keep you updated with everything Spider-Man 4 as the news becomes available.

With McAdams out, UGO is reporting that Julia Stiles has met with a casting company in New York City to discuss a role in Spider-Man 4. The consensus on the interwebs is that she is auditioning for the role of Black Cat.

Rumor upon rumor has been circulating the web about Spider-Man 4 lately, mainly about the film’s villains. Last week, two sources confirmed that the Black Cat is indeed in the script and rumors circulated that Rachel McAdams and Romola Garai were auditioning for the role.

McAdams has now stated to Entertainment Weekly that the rumors are simply untrue.

“That’s a total rumor, I have to say,” the actress, who will next be seen in the Dec. 25 action-adventure tentpole Sherlock Holmes, tells EW. “I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, ‘I just heard you’re doing Spider-Man 4.‘ And I said, ‘Really? No one told me!’ It’s not true.” A rep for Sony Pictures concurs: “It’s an Internet rumor, as so many things are these days.”

Some around the web believe that they are lying, and they might be, but right now it is a bit too early to tell.

We will keep you posted with any updates on Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 villains and news as they become available.

According to /Film, the guys over at Hey U Guys have confirmed that Black Cat/Felicia Hardy will indeed be in Spider-Man 4.

Reportedly, director Sam Raimi has been considering Rachel McAdams and Romola Garai as potential female leads. While it has been rumored that they are auditioning to play Black Cat, this news has yet to be officially confirmed.

A quote from Hey U Guys let’s us know what is exactly that they’ve stumbled onto.

According to our friendly neighbourhood spider-source there are a number of actresses currently being considered for the role, but this at least confirms that Hardy is going to be in the film. We were also given a rough outline of the character’s story arc.

Their report goes on to tell us that the big screen Felicia Hardy is not the daughter of a cat burglar, like the original, but that he is instead in charge of the Daily Bugle. Presumably, this is how she comes to know Peter Parker, who she then goes on to fall in love with and discover the secret identity of, which will put both of them in danger.

Hardy’s father is also reportedly a villain in some sense, although it is likely he isn’t a costumed one. Then again, Hey U Guys reports that their source kept referring to this guy as “viper”, over and over. Who is that? I have no idea.

Hey U Guys also states that it is her father’s death that catapults Hardy into her new life style. /Film seems to think that this could be because an unmasked Peter Parker is unable to save him, thus creating a nice storyline of the importance that Spider-Man remain anonymous. I like it, but who knows?

With all this talk of Felicia Hardy, it is becoming more likely that Raimi may intend to kill off Mary Jane. This is even more likely if you consider that Raimi has reportedly wanted to get “back to basics.” Too many story lines and characters can add up to what we saw in Spider-Man 3, and no one wants that.

We will keep you updated with any more Spidey news as it becomes available.

Rumors for Spider-Man 4 villains have really been circling the internet as of late. First I think was the one where Bruce Campbell will be Mysterio, then there was Willem Dafoe supposedly returning as the Green Goblin, and lastly was The Lizard making an appearance with the confirmation of Dylan Baker’s return.

However now, Mania is reporting that director Sam Raimi has ditched all of those ideas and decided to start casting for Black Cat as one of the villains for Spider-Man 4. Apparently, Raimi has taken full control of the project (which he didn’t have for Spider-Man 3) and decided to focus on Felicia Hardy’s alter ego as the cat-burglar.

With Black Cat being chosen as “one of” the Spider-Man villains, this contradicts previous reports that The Lizard would be the only baddie we would see this time around. The problem I have is that I don’t think too many fans will be eager to see Black Cat as a villain when there are many more popular ones to choose from. However, I’m not the director so don’t listen to me.

I think this could work as long as Raimi stays true to his claims of going “back to basics” in regard to the many problems with Spider-Man 3. We’ll have to wait until there is official confirmation on this. Until then, we will keep you posted with any more news or rumors regarding Spidey’s opponents.

Everyone should know by now that actor Don Cheadle will be replacing Terrance Howard in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 flick to hit theaters next year.

Apparently, there is no animosity between the two actors about the role swap. Regarding his landing of the role of Jim Rhodes/War Machine from Howard, Cheadle states:

“Terrence is a friend of mine…But the actual playing [of Rhodey], I just felt like it was my role. I wasn’t made to feel like I had to sort of take care of what was done before. I really feel like I could make it my own.”

Now that that is out of the way, we can get to some more interesting news. First comes another quote from Cheadle discussing his role as Rhodey/War Machine.

“I think the character that I play, my CGI character worked as much as I worked… The stuntman worked as much as I worked. It’s a huge undertaking. It was great. It was a really different experience than I have worked on before.”

Cool, cool–but that’s not exactly the type of news to swoon over, am I right? So next we have a quote from Sam Rockwell, who plays Justin Hammer, from a recent video interview. More information on this Justin Hammer character after the quote.

“Don’s character, Rhodey, needs to work with me. He has no choice… So we team up and we build this fabulous War Machine.”

In case you don’t know, Justin Hammer is a frequent adversary of Iron Man and a Stark Industries rival. Therefore, him joining forces with War Machine will obviously cause some tension between Stark and Rhodes, right?

Well, let’s look at that. From earlier reports, it seems that part of the plot of Iron Man 2 revolves around Tony Stark keeping the Iron Man technology out of the wrong hands, including the government. Meanwhile, he must also deal with all that comes with being a newly-outed superhero. Additionally, in the teaser trailer, Nick Fury tries to tell Stark that he has now become part of a bigger universe and that he will likely need the help of others to deal with his enemies.

If that wasn’t enough for Stark to handle, in an interview at Comic-Con, Cheadle hints at the growing tension between Rhodey and Stark, giving us reason to believe that this tension could lead to a battle between the two.

Lastly (and most exciting), MTV’s Splash Page has revealed through their latest interview with Cheadle that he has struck a deal to have a starring role in the Marvel mash-up known as The Avengers!

So courtesy of MTV, that’s all we have for you on War Machine and Iron Man 2 right now, but that’s a lot to digest. We’ll keep you updated with news as it develops.

Several cast rumors for Kenneth Branagh’s Thor have been running wild as of late. However, it has now been confirmed that this is no rumor.

Screen Rant reports that Anthony Hopkins is in negotiations for the role of Odin, father to the title character Thor.

Thor is one of several lead-ins to Marvel’s mashup as these comic heroes join forces in a highly anticipated The Avengers film. I am excited that this is going to be attempted and I hope the studios know what they’re doing and can pull it off well.

What do you think of Anothony Hopkins as Thor? Let us know below in the comments.
